This note highlights REI3, a lipid-protected omega-3 fatty acid solution for improving laying persistency,
and summarizes the background for using protected omega-3 fatty acids alongside a feeding evaluation case applied to late-laying hens.
REI3 is a lipid-matrix-coated protected omega-3 fatty acid feed additive containing alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
The lipid coating helps protect the omega-3 fatty acids throughout the upper gastrointestinal tract and enables their gradual release starting from the small intestine,
supporting effective absorption in the gut.
